Besides Christmas time, this is the time of year that women, particularly single moms, can get overwhelmed. You had to change your schedule to make up for the fact that the kids were out of school for spring break. You had to pay more for childcare this month. You’re trying to plan for the summer break and all the extra expense that goes along with that. A summer trip to somewhere fun. Summer camp. And yes, childcare costs go up because now, you’re paying for a full day!
All the pressure of planning, extra money and keeping the kids occupied can lead to a lot of restless nights. It’s time to take a deep breath and step back to remember that you’re only one person. You’re not perfect. And you need to take care of you, too! Yes, it’s important to take care of your kids. But there has to be a balance where you fit in some “you time”.
If you’re not functioning on all cylinders, then you’re not going to be up to taking care of anyone else. So, if the kids will be with your ex most of the summer, then it’s time for you to check out your budget friendly options!
There are several good travel/vacation websites out there that cater specifically to money-conscious moms. Even if you wanted to do a “staycation”, don’t forget about options like Groupon that will save you a lot on getting your nails and toes done, along with massages, too.
Most important, get a social life! Plan to go out with friends. Plan to date (if you feel you’re ready). And plan to do something new…be adventurous. Go hiking or a day trip to a place you’ve been wanting to see. Don’t feel guilty about taking opportunities to enjoy life. It’s good for your mind, body and soul!
In His love and care,
